Palmer vacation - part 3

Sunday. Day 3. 

Today we decided to head to downtown Crested Butte and see what the shopping was like.  It's a cute little Main Street. Lots of fishing shops.

We went into several shops, ate snacks at their farmers market and snapped a quick photo of the grand kids with Papa Doug.

We missed Kieran (Mike and Julie's son) in the first shot and this one below shows why. He wanted grandma more than he wanted to join the fun. 

They had some neat iron work around town. 

Found this sign for Jack. Cracked me up at its appropriateness for him.

After shopping we headed to a park and ate lunch. They had a neat playground. 

And great swings. Yes they were the same as every other swing I've seen but for some reason the kids loved them.

Kate and I looked through pictures and had a photo shoot. 

Then she snapped one of Kale. This is what he got on his souvenir shopping trip. Surprised? 

After lunch we decided to check out the cemetery. I think old cemeterys are so neat. I know that seems weird but there's history there. This one was located in a beautiful spot. 

This is the only cross I've seen in this town. Lots of prayer flags but no crosses.

Sweet niece Alannah outside. We all went out and watched Jack "use the force" and start grandpa's car. I posted a video of that on Instagram and Facebook. You may be able to click on it on the right side of this blog. It's pretty cute. 

And then we took grandkid picture. We tried to buy them matching shirts (incredibly hard to match 18month olds to an almost 10 year old). We managed to find similar things and snap a couple good pictures. 

Monday is our last day here. I think by the last day we all are tired and ready to be home. It's been a good trip though.

Palmer Vacation - part 2

Day 2! 

Today we took our time getting up and out. We had a fabulous night's sleep. Our bed is so comfy! 

I forgot a couple pics from last night. Mark and I squished on a chair. Took a "selfie". 

Then we got our niece Alannah to join us (big news!). She looks comfy doesn't she?

After breakfast and devotions we headed for a drive up Kebler Pass. 

The colors weren't quite as brilliant as we had hoped but it was still gorgeous.

The road was super muddy. We felt pretty burly in our rocket shop minivan. 

Can you imagine the site when all that green turns bright yellow and orange.

We did dinner tonight. Made sliders. Here's my awesome hubby frying up some bacon for the green beans. ;)

Kids had to take advantage of our huge jacuzzi tub tonight. Aren't they sweet?

I realized after I got up here that I forgot to pack tennis shoes or any good shoes for hiking. I don't know what I was thinking (mybrainwasfriedfromtheretreat). It was a nice excuse for me, however, to finally invest in a nice pair of hiking shoes. We had to come all the way to Crested Butte for shoes ;) 

After the kids went to bed we pulled out my vacation project. My mother and father in law are really the only other ones who like to do them. I got it this week thinking it'd be a fun thing to do during the little kids nap time. Margie and I are having fun! 

Palmer vacation - part 1

Today is the first day of our annual Palmer vacation. Every year we get away for a long weekend with Mark's family. This is year number 8!  We've been to Glenwood Springs, Ouray, Durango, Steamboat Springs, Estes Park, Pagosa Springs, Breckenridge and now Crested Butte. We love it! 

First off we drove into the clouds...

The colors were beautiful and they would've been even better if the sky was blue and the sun was shining. 

This was Silverton. Just two days before we were up there and it was beautiful! 

Red mountain pass was beautiful. Spitting snow and cloudy but the trees were brilliant! 

Coming down into Ouray. I love this town. 

Ate lunch at Buen Tiempo.

This was a hit for all of us.

Last night Jack opened up his birthday gifts from the Palmers. Star Wars everywhere! 

The plans for today include a drive into beautiful aspen groves covered snow. Gonna be gorgeous. More pictures to come I have no doubt.
