You may remember that a while back I told you that our good friend Kristin had taken our pictures. We hadn't had good family photos taken since before Jack was born and we thought it was way overdue. So we went to a local park early(ish) one morning to hopefully have her capture our family.
She was wonderful.
And she asked me when I saw her next (after we had seen the proofs) if I wanted her to touch up or photoshop more of the pictures.
I really had to think about it.
I mean sure I'd love to have perfect skin and a few less pounds. I'd love to photoshop out a "bad" head and put in a new one on any one of us.
I'd love for all of us to be looking at the camera at the same time...and smiling! I'd love for hair to be perfect, wrinkles to be less, clothes to be in order, smiles to be nice, children to be behaving, etc... but then I realized that that isn't real.
Neither is posing for pictures, I know that.
But the reality is that we are getting older, my skin isn't perfect, my children aren't always well behaved and smiling, our clothes aren't normally in order (or matching for that matter!), our hair doesn't always behave how we'd like it to, my 2, 5 and 7 year olds don't always want to do what we tell them to (even if we're desperately bribing them), and I love {almost} every minute of it!
What do I want to remember in twenty years?
I want to remember the real Palmer family -- as we were/are.
So I never responded to Kristin to tell her to alter anything.
She did an amazing job capturing the real, imperfect, but perfectly-God-created, us. Thank you Kristin for your God-given gift and for sharing it with us.
